"An Hour to Imagine, Wish and Dream"
For Ages 7 - 12

"Musical Storytelling"
For Ages 5 - 7

These 2 presentations run approximately 60-minutes and can be  tailored for a small or large group, a classroom or a large auditorium.

"The Wishful Penny" by Jennifer Young and its derivative musical, "Jenny's Penny" by January Akselrad are at the core of both presentations.  The author and composer utilize their story of the adventurous Lincoln cent as an ideal and entertaining vehicle to help children understand  the power of their thoughts, practice visualization and learn goal setting.

Both presentations include:

  • A dramatic reading from “The Wishful Penny”

  • Beginner’s goal-setting (or how to make wishes come true!) discussion

  • A powerful visualization exercise in which children "see" the exact moment in which their goal has been achieved.

  • The opportunity to share visualizations with the group, bringing validation through the support of peers and teachers.

  • Children learn the song “See the Wish” from “Jenny’s Penny”, giving a visceral opportunity, through music, to feel the power of their dreams and carry it with them.

  • Question & Answer with Jennifer and January

Educators and kids have great things to say about See The Wish Presentations...

"I loved the reaction of the children to the story and the fact that they sharpened or learned listening skills along with oral presentation and critical thinking skills thanks to your thoughtful teaching methods of storytelling combined with music.  A delightful afternoon all around and I hope that you might consider returning to the Museum sometime shortly."
Tanya Tyler-Barber / Program Director - Interactive Museum, Middletown, NY

"Thank you so much for speaking at our school...I was so happy with the outcome!! The kids were so excited and the parents were pleased with their conversations at home about it!  ...There is still a huge buzz around the school about your visit!! Its amazing how (your) visit influenced the students!
